Talarico For Texas

Talarico For Texas

Yesterday,I did something I have not done on a very long time if ever. I placed a political sign in my front yard and put two political bumper stickers on the back of my truck. They both say, “Talarico For Texas.”

I, like 47 per cent of recently polled Texas voters, am hoping to turn Texas blue in the November U.S. Senate campaign. James Talarico’s Republican opponent in the race who received a Trump endorsement over long time incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn who was deemed by the President as a RINO (Republican In Name Only) or not MAGA enough, is a flawed individual with corruption and character issues that before the Trump era would have doomed any politician candidate. Yet the bar has been so lowered that currently even so flawed a contender polled also at 47 percent with would be voters in the poll sited above.

There is a tired old rather sexist saying that one used to hear uttered in such contests, “May the best man win.” While it is obvious to me who the best man is in this race. I also thought the case was equally clear in the last two Texas Senate races only to be disappointed again that the Republican incumbents won.

Will there be a blue wave that includes Texas this fall. I certainly hope so. And I am “putting my money where my mouth is.” I ordered the yard sign and bumper stickers to signify my support for James Talarico for Texas. I recently saw another Talarico yard sign down the block. I hope to see many more going up before November.

My endorsement may not carry the weight of the Trump endorsement that ended John Cornyn’s chances in the Republican Primary. That endorsement may turn out to be the kiss of death in the general election. I hope so, but we shall see.

Our Republican Governor is also up for re-election and only leading his Democrat challenger by two percentage points. May the best man win. Her name is Gina Hinojosa. I just ordered another yard sign that reads “Gina For Texas. When it arrives I will write a blog endorsing her.

Here’s hoping James and Gina help us turn Texas blue in November.
