Time In A Bottle

On September 30, 1973 at aged thirty singer-songwriter Jim Croce died in a plane crash. His song Time In A Bottle was not released as a single until after his death. It was his second song to hit number one on the charts. He wrote it in 1970 in one sitting after his wife Ingrid had told him that he was going to be a dad. His son Adrian was two when his dad ran out of time.

I was twenty-two and beginning my second semester in Bible College when Jim Croce died. His beautiful song about wanting more time has been one of my favorite songs to sing along with since I first heard it. In 1973 like most people my age I thought anyone thirty was old. At seventy-five that perspective has changed a bit. 

Jim’s song still rings true after all these years.
