King Creole
I was mistaken when I wrote a few days ago that I had skipped one of Stephen Cosgrove’s books. There are actually two more, Creole today and Raz-Ma-Taz tomorrow. The title Creole makes me think of the Elvis movie, King Creole. It and Wild In The County are a couple of his earliest and best efforts in my estimation. So many Elvis movies were just vehicles to display his music but these two also display his talent as an actor, having strong storylines with talented supporting characters. Elvis carries his weight in the staring role in each of them.
I first saw Elvis when he performed live on the Ed Sullivan show when I was five years old. My parents let me stay up late to see a young man also from Tennessee who was taking the world by storm. If you have not seen the two movies I mention above I encourage you to do so and also the biography movie about Elvis recently released where Tom Hanks plays his long time manager Col. Tom Parker. Long live the King of Rock ‘n Roll, Elvis Presley.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
Also long-time Elvis fan,
David White
