Loving A Leo

Leo is the fifth sign of the Zodiac covering the period from July 23rd to about August 22. My first and last loves (my first teenaged girl friend and my last wife) were and are both Leo’s. I held hands, hugged, and kissed the first for about three months when I was fourteen years old and I have touched all the bases and made it to home plate more times than I can count (to use a baseball metaphor) with my wife of almost thirty-five years. I can therefore claim some experience and expertise at loving a Leo.

Leo’s are said to be the queens or kings of the jungle and love the sunlight and the spotlight. They are passionate people who love to be center-stage and in control. They are at the same time fun to love and totally exhausting and at times exasperating. My first little girl friend Becky broke my heart that summer before we started high school. Being three months older than I was she turned fifteen in August and was therefore able to get a work permit and a job waitressing at a pizza joint the last couple of weeks of summer vacation. There as the funny Hee Haw line that was not so funny at the time goes, “She met another and zip she was gone.”

She met a senior at the high school we had both planned to attend who also had a summer job where she got her first. At the last minute I decided to take the bus to a different high school having no desire to see them together every day at school. As another ole saying goes, “I thought I would die but I didn’t.”

That was perhaps my first sweet taste of young love and bitter heartbreak but it was not my last.

It is no big surprise that those we love the most have the twin powers of opening us up to experience incredible happiness or terrible misery and sometimes both at almost the same time.

My last loving and lovely wife Linda is a true Leo exhilarating, exhausting, and exasperating, but she is without a doubt the great love of my life, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, till death do us part. Looking for a love that lasts, I recommend loving a Leo.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
