Don’t Let Little Things Bug You
A line from one of my favorite movies Salt has Angelina Jolie’s character saying to her husband, a degreed and famous Arnachnologist , “Get your bugs off the kitchen table.” To which he replies, “They are not bugs, they’re spiders.”
The less we know of someone or something the easier it is to lump them together and make negative judgements based on stereotypes rather than accurate information. Or as Pocahontas in the Disney version of her story sings, “Every rock, and tree, and creature has a life, has a spirit, has a name.”
I read years ago that if it were possible to remove every rock and tree and creature from the planet for a moment that was not an insect that the outline of the earth would still be visible due to the vast population of insects on its surface. We know so very little about this most prolific species of creatures with whom we share this planet.
Sadly we consider them pests when we fail to acknowledge that they are an important part of our ecosystem and that the health of our home world depends upon them.
I admit I am not a fan of mosquitoes and that I have a couple of bug zappers to keep them from over populating in my home. I do however resist the urge to kill spiders for I have learned to appreciate their role in helping to keep the populations of the more pesky blood sucking varieties of insects in check so that they don’t bug me as much.

Hucklebug
Thing is to allow them as part of life as ignoring the small things that pester us.
