Snaffles and Snuggled Not SNAFU
Today’s children’s book reading, a wonderful rainy morning, and my daily Note From The Universe combined to inspire today’s encouraging word title and theme.

Snaffles
The encouraging words for today are Snaffles and Snuggles not SNAFU. For those of you unfamiliar with the third one, it is a military acronym dating from the World War Two era and means Situation Normal All Fucked Up. Some in an effort to be less offensive use Fouled-Up in the same way James Blunt was force to change the lyrics in his song You’re Beautiful from “fucking high” to “flying high” so it could be played on the radio.
I grew up in the Bible Belt in a strict fundamentalist Christian sect even more strict that the Southern Baptists and so the king mother of taboo cuss words was then and still is to many the F word. But, to me, a far dirtier, nastier, four letter F word, Fate, was used widely and openly in mixed company.
Today’s encouraging words Snaffle and Snuggle remind me of a phrase from the Terminator time traveling series of movies, “There is no fate but what we make.” We choose the thoughts that we dwell upon and that we verbalize and it is these that create our current reality. If we do not like what is going on in our life we have only to change our thinking and all the rest will follow. Instead of blaming our situation on fate we need to take responsibility for our thoughts. And as that ole Love Note Passer, Mike Dooley says – “Choose the good ones.”
