Dancing On The Wind
Much of our history on this planet we have been grounded, yet long before we figured out how to fly ourselves we flew kites. Some of us still do and still thrill to feel the tug of our paper or plastic aviators dancing on the wind.
As many a boy and girl of my generation I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. Around noon everyday the U.S. Air Force ran their recruiting commercial which consisted of jets souring through “footless halls of air” as someone read aloud the poem High Flight:

Often throughout this thus far seventy-two year adventure in space and time I have felt the wind tugging at my clothes and whispering in my ears the words of a song I learned as as a boy, “Some glad morning when this life is o’r, I’ll fly away. To that land on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away.”
