Obsessed With Numbers
I once knew a man who was accused of being obsessed with numbers and he would reply to his detractors, “We count people because people count.” Over the years I have known many businesses who touted quality over quantity in their products, services, and customers and seemed humbly proud of the their small foot print.
The old business adage goes, “Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.” Most businesses they say fail in the first few years because they fail to reach and sustain a large enough customer base to become or stay viable.
I confess that a large part of my motivation for beginning this blog in March of 2015 was to hopefully build a following of ten thousand readers. That I had read was the magic number publishers want to see in any marketing plan for any new publication. I had written a little book about my dear and departed daughter Emily and wanted to see it published thinking my thirty-two episodes or chapters from her life might be an encouragement to others as they had been and still are to me.
They also say, these adage inventors, “Love what you do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” Whether I ever in this lifetime reach my goal of ten thousand readers or having written ten thousand blogs I am not obsessed with profits, likes, or numbers of readers. I am however obsessed with the idea of writing encouraging words, enlightening, and entertaining words. I hope all who read these little efforts will find something worth their while.
