What Marriage Means To Me

I have been married four times. Thirty-five years ago today I had a first date with the one who would not let me get away. My first three marriages lasted a year and a half, three and a half years and seven years respectively. My lovely Linda Lee and I were married a year and a half after that first date on August 10, 1989. But January 31, 1988 has long been the anniversary we celebrate most, that and the birthday of our son, Jonathan David James Wallace White. He is the greatest gift we ever gave to one another.

Jay took his time and married his first and only wife Lauren on May 21, 2020. It was a lovely wedding and all who attended as they will long remember that day. Someday in the not too distant future we are hoping with them that a baby will come to live with them and that they too can share one of marriage’s greatest gifts.

Thirty-five years and I can still sing with Gladys Knight and the Pips that Linda Lee Stokes you are, “The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.”
