Take Another Shot

Don’t like how things have developed take another shot. The pretty little photographer above knows that you have to take a lot of pictures to get the really great shots and often as not it is the unintended picture than ends up being the best.

My wife Linda, among her many talents, is an excellent photographer. She really has an eye for beauty. And in her case beauty is not just in the eye of the beholder, but flows through and out of her as well.

The smart phone and social media have done great harm especially to young girls by further exacerbating the way we have long overemphasized physical beauty in women. Lasting beauty always shines from within, the surface kind quickly fades. Those who value only surface beauty are forever trading in their partners for younger fresher versions. True love sees deeper and last forever. That is, after all, what forever is for.

I most often refer to my Linda as my loving and lovely wife. That is the way of all truly beautiful people – by loving us they make us feel beautiful. I am reminded of the lines from of a love song, “She’s got a way about her. I don’t know what it is. I know that I can’t live without her.”

For sometime now I have had a feeling that I will have to live without her someday. But, thank heaven this is not that day and she and I will busy ourselves as we have now for over thirty-four years, taking photos literally and in our minds and cherishing our precious, days, hours and moments together.
