Short Cuts Seldom Are

It is a lesson wrought by years of experience that the best way out of a tricky or difficult situation is always through. Tempting as trying to take a short cut might seems, it rarely, if ever, is. The road less traveled is the long and winding road, but at end of that road is our true treasure.

If my forty plus year career in quality control and quality assurance taught me anything it is that short cuts seldom are. As the quality truism states, “If you don’t have time to do it right the first time how are you ever going to find the time to do it over again?”

Life and the tastiest meals are made following tried and true recipes. All good cooks know what happens when we try to skip a step or skimp on the ingredients – yeah, an incredible inedible mess. Do yourself, those you love and who love you a favor, avoid shortcuts. “The best way is always through.”
