Words To Wake, To Walk, And To Live By

“Walking In The Rain With The One I Love… How I love the rainy days and the happy ways I feel inside.” Neil Sedaka wrote and first sang those words over sixty years ago and they echoed in my heart as I strolled through the park with my Baby yesterday morning and we enjoyed together the mid-August breeze and the rain drops on our faces.

At one point my wife spread her arms like a child and said, “I could fly away on this breeze, but I am not ready to leave you.” I told her that I am glad and even if she did fly away that I would soon fly away too and find her. I wish another sixties song that plays often in my heart would play in hers as well, the Beach Boys’, Don’t Worry Baby.

My loving and lovely wife hardly sleeps at all these days. She reminds me of myself as a child. I did not want to go to sleep because I was afraid I might miss something or that some scary dream would come to me while I was sleeping.

“Don’t worry, Baby, everything will turn out alright” are eight of the most holy and inspired words ever written or sung, to me. Instead of being fearful of missing a thing or of something going terribly wrong we should heed those words for I believe they are from the highest lips to our ears and our hearts.
