Thoughts Become Things
Words are but symbols of thoughts and with language we share our thoughts. My friend Mike Dooley, author of Notes From The Universe, says and writes often, “Thoughts become things, choose the good ones.”
I agree with him and if you want to know what anyone is thinking, including your sometimes illusive self, just get them or yourself talking and the words will reveal all. People often use the expression when they are surprised by some unexpected act, “I don’t know what they or I was thinking.” Listen closely to what people say and to your own self-talk to examine theirs and your own true thoughts.
One of the lines in my daily mantra is a slightly modified Proverb. My version goes like this, “May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in my sight, O Lord, my strength, my rock, and my redeemer.” Even some of us no longer inclined to believe there is a god outside ourselves still recognize that our higher best self is still our strength, our rock, and our redeemer.
We find it ironic that the home, heaven and mother (three of the most revered words in the English language) that we seek is not outside us but within us. I like to quote one of Jesus lines to the religious seekers of his day, “The kingdom of heaven is within you.”
Are not prayer, meditation, and intention really just having a talk with ourself? And that still small voice that is the most reliable guide, is it not really our own? “May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in my sight…”
