The Sweet Sound Of Rain On The Roof
I love rain and waking to the sweet sound of rain on roof is one of my most favorite ways to wake up. I still miss the mountains that I grew up surrounded by the first eighteen years of my life in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I was born, but my adopted hometown of Houston, Texas, flat as it is, can still thrill my heart with it’s torrential rains. I never get tired of rain and nothing washes and soothes my soul quite as much as a good down pour.
Oh, and I know some of you do not share my taste for rain or for Mondays. As the Carpenters song, Rainy Days and Mondays, says, rainy days and Mondays get you down. I feel the same way when too many hot sunny days are not broken up by a few cloudy and rainy ones. We and all living things need both sunshine and rain to grow, to stay alive, and to thrive.
The sun for me always shines brighter through a rainbow and my heart is always listening in anticipation for that sweet sound on the roof announcing its arrival. Ernest Hemingway wrote a book entitled The Sun Also Rises. I might write one someday entitled Let It Rain.
Enjoying the rain concert this morning.
