A Wrinkle In Time, Chapter 4
We like to think our lives are lived in chapters the way most books are written but I think we live in one eternal moment. Think back on the moments that you remember most precious in this life. My wife has a favorite saying, framed on one of our bedroom walls: “Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.” Amen to that, my friends.
One of the funniest of movie lines follows a scene in the movie When Harry Met Sally where Sally is giving a demonstration in a restaurant to prove to Harry that men cannot tell when women are faking pleasure. The whole restaurant hears her and when a waitress asks a lady for her order she says simply, “I’ll have what she is having.”
We live for such moments. They are that dash between two dates that abbreviates our life on our grave stones. Poet and romantic that I am, I believe it is those hard breathing moments and their tremendous momentum that keeps this old world on its course spinning around the sun.
As the old breakfast cereal commercial says, “He (she) is feeling his (her) CheeriO’s.” Get it? You got it!
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
