Three Blind Mice & John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt

Today I conclude A Children’s Treasury of Songs with two final songs. I hope those following along have had even half as much fun as I have. It is also my hope that you will share these children’s songs with your children, your children’s children and all their nieces and nephews.

I mentioned recently watching the movie Gandhi. In the movie the great leader for an independent, united, and peaceful India goes on one last hunger strike to desperately try to get the waring religious factions in his country to stop the revenge killings of one another. One man comes to him saying, “What am I to do, I killed a Muslim boy, the son of the man who killed my son.” Gandhi said to him, “Find a Muslim boy whose father was killed and raise him as your own, but be sure to raise him a Muslim.” Gandhi was raised a Hindu but told the people, “ I am a Muslim, I am a Christian, I am a Jew.” He saw that beyond the labels that we choose, we are all one, we are all brothers. Yes, you sisters too.

The Apostle Paul put it, “There is no more Jew or Gentile, male or female, for we are all one…” No matter what label you choose even if it is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, we know Who and Whose you are even behind those Foster Grants. Nice disguise though.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
