Marta! Big and Small

All things big and small, bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all and an infinitely big soul in a small body, Marta, points out but a few of them to us in today’s book.

In Disney’s Lion King song Circle of Life we are told something we all shortly realize when we first open our eyes in this Time and Space Jungle: “From the day we arrive on the planet and blinking step into the sun, there’s far too much to take in here, more to do than can ever be done.” I, myself, the longer this adventure continues, become more and more convinced that the circle of life continues with our spirits circling back to take ever more of it in till we experience it all entirely.

Oh, and I suppose the more conventional view of an after party sharing of all our individual experiences could be possible too, but I have a sneaky suspicion that we have all been here before in one guise or another and perhaps many times already. It is quite possible that we had a bird’s eye view of this marvelous scene way before balloons, airplanes, and drones with cameras made that possible. Perhaps Forest Gump’s Jenny’s childhood prayer, “Lord, make me a bird so I can fly far, far away” has already been answered for some if not all of us and evolution is not just a theory about where our present bodies came from but a trail of where our spirits have already been as well.

Too deep, too much to take in, perhaps, but food for thought. I believe we spend most of our lives half asleep and the other half completely asleep in dreams trying to recall our past lives. Not just the Bible calls, “Awake, oh sleeper” but everything around us, big and small, does as well.

I leave you with one last Bible verse. This one is in the form of a question: “Who is the king of glory?” I think we may have gotten the answer a bit off, it seeming so obviously Jesus, but who is indeed the divine and beloved child sent into the world to make a difference, why you and me of course and everyone else as well as we send ourselves again and again into the world to experience it all.
