The Cat In The Hat Comes Back
I have always thought of Crooner Frank Sinatra as the true cat in a hat as he was still at the height of his singing and movie career when I arrived on the scene almost seventy years ago. I watched many of his older black and white musicals on TV and saw him perform most of his later dramatic roles in Technicolor and High-fidelity on big theater screens. I recall as if it were yesterday sitting rather impatiently for the film to roll hearing Frank singing High Hopes over the theater sound system.
Many of his songs, like that one, are up beat and encouraging and I have always thought him quite the cool cat for sharing them with us. Oh, he got paid in cash and with lots of praise for his efforts to be sure, but rightfully so I think. Even now more than a generation after his passing there are many of us who still take our hats off to Frank, that cool cat in a hat.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
Fan of The Cat In A Hat,

High Hopes
I really loved Seus’ work. Sinatra was certainly a cool cat.
