One-Minute Bedtime Stories
In regard to the latest of my morning gift sharing rituals that I call “David Reads Children’s Books”, I am always on the lookout for a children’s book treasure to share with what I hope will one day be a large following as I also hope to find for this blog and my Daily Mockingbird Song. I recently came across just such a surprising treasure. It is “One-Minute Bedtime Stories by Shari Lewis with Lan O’Kun illustrated by Art Cummings and published by Doubleday & Company, Inc., Garden City, New York: 1982. It consists of twenty classic children’s stories re-written in shorter form for busy parents to share with their story hungry children at bedtime. I attach here a link to the Preface (longer than the story) and Rumpelstiltskin, the first story:

As a child on Saturday mornings I had many dates with Shari Lewis, her little hand sock-puppet, Lamb Chop, and her other puppet friends. I was therefore especially thrilled to come across this treasure and to be able to share it with a new generation of youngsters and their parents, likely too young themselves to have seen The Shari Lewis Show.
I look forward to recording and sharing all twenty tales with all who are interested. To receive a daily email link to David Reads Children’s Books just email me at:
