Who And Whose We Are…

And that we are all beloved family. I have used the phrase and often that the answer to most of our problems is just remembering Who and Whose we are. As I was sharing that again in a text to a friend, I thought to add and that we are all beloved family. It is so easy to forget that when we are distracted (Jesus’ words here, “By the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches.”) Ridiculous in the light of Who and Whose we are really. Gods have no cares, only adventures in time and space, and to believe a divinity would care or even need an ever increasing pile of cash for security is absurd. It is probably wise to keep a little cash on hand for incidentals but as I recall Jesus did instruct his boys not to take any on the business trips he sent them on as he wanted them to learn Who and Whose they really were. Never really knowing that or forgetting it is the reason for most our discomfort, pain, and anxiety in this life. It is all just a misunderstanding about our true nature and identity.

When I was in the little box called “religion” there were some clues in the words and music as to my true identity. As a boy in church I learned a song with these words:

My Father is rich in houses and lands,

He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!

Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,

His coffers are full, He has riches untold

I have since come to learn that God is much bigger than, father, mother, sister, brother, earth, and sky. God is and encompasses all the known and unknown Universe including, you and me. Or as a poet once wrote, “In Him (Her) will live and move and have our being.” Therefore there can be not Other, no Opposite, No Enemy. Wow, that is Who I am, Who you are, to Whom we all belong – then, now, and always. Whew, that really takes a load of my mind. Ha

Are we having fun yet?

Have a ball, y’all, love One and all.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
