In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning
In the wee small hours of the morning
When most in my world are fast asleep
I early rise, wipe the sleep from my eyes
A promise made to self I have to keep.
In my life, too often sadly discouraged
Writer-singer-poet dream I nourished
Knew someday I would be read, heard
Am now by more and more, Mockingbird
Songs and my ever encouraging word.

In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning
I think that I have found my niche, my sweet spot, the place where I have practiced for all my life, to write, to perform, and to play. I am so glad and grateful to have found this platform. I had hoped by now to have a greater readership but my following continues to grow and I am thankful for that and the opportunity to dig deeply inside myself for just the right encouraging words to share. Do I always get it right? Hardly, but if they gave good grades for effort I think I might get a sticker star or two. Whether anyone else has noticed the improvement, I have but more than that, I feel it. Some one has said that “Happy” is the needle that always points us to our true north. Well, they would have and in just those words if they had thought about it as much as I have these last few years. I have written said, and sung in so many words that I no longer care as much about being right as being happy. What does it matter if we win every argument, every battle, if we lose our happy heart in the process. To the victor may go the spoils but it is a spoiled and a rotten mess if in all the struggle we forget how to enjoy life.
I wake up most morning in the wee hours with encouraging thoughts bubbling up in me to be shared, that my friends is a fine way to wake up. Be encouraged, life may not always be a holiday on primrose lane but it can be more than not if we look for the encouraging words in everything. I am practicing the song Keep On The Sunny Side from the Oh, Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack to sing for you. And, yes, I plan to do, Man Of Constant Sorrows (I am not but we have all felt like that from time to time) but I plan to sing some of the happier tunes first. Tune in tomorrow for Big Rock Candy Mountains.
