Hope Springs Eternal
Last week I had a friend and fan take issue with what they thought was my over-emphasis on the importance of love and what seemed to them at least my total discounting of the importance of hope. Hope is as important to me as it is to anyone especially when pain or disappointments come as they seem to all too often even for us more optimistic souls. It is not easy to hurt in the dark and it is the hope of sunrise and a better brighter day that keeps our heads above water if even only barely when the floods of pain and disappointments over flow us.
There is, I think, in each of us the soul of an artist and a poet always looking for the best, the highest, the brightest to hold on to. Hope springs eternal and like faith it has its root and flower in love. I am a man who believes in love but I also believe in hope and faith. With the Apostle Paul who said it so succinctly I agree: “Now abide faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is love” – but all three are pretty wonderful.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
For me hope is also an encapsulation of love too.
