What A Mind Bender

I love the way The Mind works and I say mind not minds. I believe that there is one great all encompassing mind that we all are logged into. I also think that we have minds of our own which can override if at least temporarily (in time) that wiser, more wonderful, more thoughtful mind which they are but tiny replicas of in the first place. That first place I speculate is where we started and shall ultimately return. If place is even the correct term. State of mind or being is probably more correct.

We are as the eighth intention states “magnificent beings awakening to our highest potential.” It is all in that One Mind and completely and fully accessible by our tiny little console minds. I know such talk gives my religious friends the “He-be-she be’s” so I will share a favorite verse from the writings of Paul. He was I think a smart man but could be as most of us guys quite stupid sometimes too. This one I think he had help with from the Greater Mind: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” and I paraphrase the rest … who realizing that he was God did not try or struggle to take God’s place but chose the role of a servant that he might best reveal his divinity.” Whoa, Dave, rewriting the Bible are we now? No, not at all. Read it for yourself in any version or translation you like and see if David’s Standard Version is not true to what it plainly says:

Philippians 2: 5-7 (KJV)

“5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”

Some of the more modern translations render mind as attitude but what is our attitude but what we think. Sometimes our little minds try to inform the bigger one but it seems to work best the other way around. That is, I think, what thinking, praying, and meditating is really all about – allowing all our thoughts to be informed by our highest and best mind. Several years ago now when I first tried to figure out what meditating is supposed to be I read something that talked about experiencing an “eternal moment.” You have probably heard someone else or even yourself say, “I need a moment.” Those are the moments that change our lives or rather reveal to us what our lives really are, who, and whose we really are. Take a moment to wrap your little mind around the big one and realize what even the writers of the Bible have coming out of Jesus, called the Christ’s mouth: “As I am (God’s name – I Am) so are you in this world.”

And lastly a quote from Inspector Drebin, a character made famous by the late great actor Leslie Nielsen in the Naked Gun movies: “What a mind bender!”
