A BEAUTIFUL MIND
Blog 109 – 9.3.15
After making what I thought was a good case for allowing others and yourself to use you own mind I would like to look at that issue from another angle. We are told in the New Testament to “Be of one mind.” And to “let the same mind that was in Christ be in you (us).”
I think there is Magnificent Mind behind everything. Oh, perhaps, like some of you I tried very hard to believe that “stuff” just happens but I have come to believe that the mind of the Universe is all encompassing and is at the same time very specific and detailed in directing all of life in all its fascinating forms. While scientists are feverishly working to learn more about the Higgs boson or God Particle and how they theorize that it gives mass to some atomic particles and not to others, I am more interested in a more grave concern, gravity.
Gravity is the force that holds it all together. As the politicians say who deny man-caused climate change, I am no scientist. (No slight, Sherlock. Pardon the pun). But as a spiritual person, and a firm believer in “the more we learn the more we realize we do not know” principle, I think the real issue in an ever expanding universe is not what gives it weight but what holds it all together.
I put forward a very unscientific theory that I learned from a beloved friend and fan whose credentials in the matter are impeccable and unimpeachable. (Drill it down, Dave, smaller words). She knows more about holding it together than any one person I have ever met. Raised in a very dysfunctional family (aren’t they all to some degree), put on drugs at a very young age for behavioral problems (what child does not have those to some degree), institutionalize twice in her young life and given shock treatments as a last resort to bring her out of a vegetative state where she had rolled up in a fetal position and shut out the world. She has at various times been diagnosed as bi-polar, manic depressive, and schizophrenic. Like the brilliant Physics Professor in the wonderful movie A Beautiful Mind she has companions visible and audible only to her and with her at all times. But also like him she has in my humble estimation a brilliant and truly beautiful mind to go with a truly beautiful face and body.
I said all that to make the case that experientially this woman knows more about holding it together than anyone I have ever known. Her simple explanation for what holds everything together, people and things, is “Heavenly Glue.” That which holds all the God Particles together is LOVE him/herself. The universe is powered, populated, permeated, and held together by Love and it is the glue that holds everyone and everything together. My friend ought to receive a Nobel prize in physics and applied sciences. Since I am not now nor ever expect to be on the selection committee a simple You Go Girl will have to do from…
