It Had To Be U.

It Had to Be U.

A few days ago I sent out in my Daily Mockingbird Song email, my own version of the classic torch song, “It Had To Be You.” One of my lady fans commenting said that she wondered if all the women in my “harem” thought I was singing it just to them and not to my own image in the mirror. I replied to her sassy comment:

“As always thanks for reading and listening and cheering me on. The U. that I

am always singing to and writing to is yes, of course, me, but also thee, and

The Big ‘U’, the whole wide Universe. (But especially all the pretty ladies, of

course. If the shoe fits, Cinderella, wear it proudly, for it was meant for you.)

Accompanying the song in the DMS email, which I provide a link to at the end of this blog, was this note:

“ When the Great Producer was considering all the try outs for this choice

part it was decided quickly that, it just had to be you.”

And please don’t think me too full of myself for quoting myself twice in this short little piece. Sometimes the words that I hear coming out of my mouth are just as surprising and inspiring to me as I hope they are to U, all of you, in the little and the largest sense. We are all, after all, part of the Universe and worthy of, consumed by, constrained by, and completely loved by, and aware the Big U. sings to us – It Had To Be You. Sing it Baby!

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White

  1. This is the right web site for everyone who would like to find out about
this topic. You know so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I
personally would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a new spin on a topic
which has been written about for decades.
    Wonderful stuff, just great!

    1. Thank you for reading and your comment. Like most writers I write for me but it is nice to have someone be encouraged, agree, be entertained, or get a laugh “ha, ha” out of a piece or pieces. I am especially fond of fellow writer comments. Again thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
