You Get What You Focus On
Sometimes a great quote is as good as a picture to spark the imagination. Today’s quote certainly is especially the phrase – so focus on what you want. It is amazing how much time we spend focused on what we do not want. Someone wrote the easiest way to get rid of the things and people you do not want in your life is to quit giving them your attention.
One of the first lovers in my life told me that she would know when our love affair was over because I would quit doing the little things that said so loudly to her how much
that I truly cared. She was older but far wiser than I was and I am forever grateful for all she taught me about love. I believe that everyone has something to teach us about love and we them. Parents, children, friends, strangers all we meet are packing, and, no, NRA folk, I am not talking about concealed carry weapons, but about a heart full of love experience to share.
The words of a teenaged love song come to mind often, “I want to love my life away. I want to love my life away. I want to love, love, love, love my life away with you.” If it is a choice between worrying over troubles real or imaginary and loving, I choose to focus on loving. Hey, and as one of my favorite sexy songs that I have a recording of by Natalie Merchant says, “Twenty years of practice and Lord above, I know how to do it.” Why I have over three times that much practice and am aiming for two score more. For you younger folk, a score is twenty years. Be wary, I have got you all in my sights. As you should, “Focus, now focus.”
