Take A Little Off The Sides

I am always looking for interesting things to share or an entertaining way to relay an oldie but goodie idea. I saw just such a thing today in Wisconsin and took a picture. I saw trees along a high tension power line getting a trim from a helicopter. I mouthed when I saw it what barbers have often heard me say, “Take a little off the sides.”

Even some of my older fans might be thinking, “Where’s he going with this?” I am with you, I am sure, I don’t have a clue. But come along with me and we’ll both find out together.

“A little off both sides” might lead to a piece on compromise and coming together. “Take a little off” maybe the need to relax or for the government to take less or more tax. The rascal in me could go many ways with this.

Here goes: “Take A Little Off The Sides” strikes me as the perfect plan to make a clearer path to follow. I picture someone with a machete hacking a trail through the brush or with a dozer or helicopter if one is in a rush. I often just cannot resist a good rhyme but we do have time and it is a task that many have given their lives for and to – this making of a wider, clearer, smoother, easier path for you.

A cousin in a mo’ hair shirt once proclaimed loudly and to large crowds a message about the importance of us making such a path. The way home has become confused, overgrown, and tangled for many of us and we need all the help we can get and are so grateful for all those trail blazers, road makers, and highway builders before us.

It is The King’s, The Queen’s, Highway with many on and off ramps, lots of pavement, and signs that need maintaining by all who travel this way. We do our part if only kicking one pebble out of the way. Smoother, happier trails to all of us on our winding road home.
