Always A First Time
I recall being told never to discuss politics, religion, or sex because people have strong opinions on those subjects and expressing my opinion might ruffle some feathers. Well, I believe we are all entitled and have a right to express our opinions. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees that right and several others.
I have been reposting picture quotes that I see a like on social media. I get tons of these from friends whose opinions are not always in line with my own. Friends and family can and do often disagree. That is what makes life interesting.
Some of us have even been known to change our minds and opinions sometimes. I know some of you conservative minded folks are straining to get your minds around that concept. But, yes, even you have tried new foods you thought you’d hate and found they tasted pretty good. Or perhaps had to admit your favorite sports team was just out played in that championship game, or maybe even that that guy you voted for really turned out to be everything his opponent, whom you were convinced was lying, said he was.
The man in the picture looks a lot younger to me than fifty-five. I remember my mom said that she knew she was getting older when all the cops started looking like kids. I think there is really hope for America when people start changing their minds. Several years ago during a political campaign the younger people coined a phrase, “Free your mind and the rest will follow.” We talk a lot about freedom and liberty in this country and still act like Darth Vader and his masked white armored thugs trying to force others to act and think like us.
I remember a quote from the Founding Fathers that went something like this, “We have given you a democratic republic if you can keep.” Vote your highest and best opinions.
