When You Come Back To Me Again

Two of my all time favorite movies are What Dreams May Come and Frequency. In the first the movie ends with a decision to have another adventure in time and space and find each other sooner while avoiding sharp objects and in the second a dad who died when his son was a young boy gets a miraculous do over, two actually, and ends up being saved from that first death and actually saving his son’s life in a future neither thought that he’d be around for.

The dad in the past burns on his desk with a soldiering iron the words, “I’m still here, Chief.” so his son will know he survived the fire. And near the end of the movie he says those words to his son face to face after he saves his son’s life.

The first time I heard Garth Brook’s Till You Come Back To Me Again was at the end of that movie. I especially love the line, “There’s a moment we all come to in our on time and our own space where all that we’ve done we can undo if our heart’s in the right place.”

A couple of days ago someone that I have loved and shared over half my life with asked me, “Am I going to die?” And I answered her as honestly as I could: “We are all going to die someday, but I think we can choose to have other adventures in time a space. I can’t prove it, but that is what I think.”
