A Salute To The Captain

The year before I started school in the first grade there was no Fred Rogers, no PBS, and no Sesame Street, but there was Captain Kangaroo, Mister Green Jeans, Mister Moose, Grandfather Clock and Bunny Rabbit. On this day seventy-one years ago Captain Kangaroo opened up the Treasure House for the first time.

I salute the Captain for his great contribution to the lives of countless children. Thank you, Sir, for getting me ready for school and all the adventures that life had in store for me.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David James White
