October

I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee in the nineteen fifties and sixties. October always meant cooler weather, fall color, and Halloween tricks and treats. One of my favorite songs is Barry Manilow’s I Hate To See October Go, where he reminisces about the Octobers of his youth.

Like many folks my age, seventy-six on November 22nd, I have had to say see-you-later to many family members and friends young and old. October is a month when we started to say good-bye to summer and the glory of youth. October is upon us again and I for one intend to enjoy each day to the fullest.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David James White
