Where Little Debbie Lives

One of my dad’s younger brothers, Uncle Walter, did not have much formal education and never used a map, yet he had the uncanny ability of always finding the most direct route to where he wanted to go. On one adventure with Uncle Walt, he drove our two families in his car to the home of Little Debbie, the McKee Food Corporation bakery in Collegedale, Tennessee. They had a discount store there where you could get a large brown paper grocery sack full of Little Debbie snack cakes for a couple of bucks. It was an amazing deal and we left with two big sack fulls, one for each of our two families. Five very happy children discovered that day where Little Debbie lives.

When I saw today’s picture quote on Social Media, I knew I had to share my Uncle Walt adventure story. In my travels over the past eleven years I have put almost two hundred thousand miles on my Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought new back then and paid for with money that I received for work mileage. That extra money more than paid the truck payments, gas, repairs, and insurance. I am still enjoying the ride almost five years after I retired.

This trusty truck has never failed to take me where I want to go. Unlike my Uncle Walter, I have used atlas’s and maps to find my way around. For years I have trusted Goggle Maps, yet still keep an atlas in the truck just I case I find myself without a phone signal. I would not want to be unable to find my way to where Little Debbie lives if I had to in a pinch.
