Night Moves

I am reminded of a line from Bob Seger’s 1976 song Night Moves: “Workin on mysteries without any clues, workin on our night movies. trying to make some front page drive-in news…” The Red Bank Drive In Theater was a popular spot in the nineteen-sixties for teenaged couples in the Chattanooga area “trying to lose those teen aged blues.”

Those are fond memories indeed though oddly I cannot recall the plot nor even the title of any of the many movies we were supposed to have seen there. There was no point really as we told her grandparents that we were going bowling. On rare occasions we actually did going bowling or to play Goony Golf, yet the Red Bank Drive-In was our favorite Friday and Saturday night destination.

Where do young people enjoy “the submarine races” these days?
