What Is War Really For?

It is for the profit of a few already rich men at the expense and blood of countless others. My war, the Vietnam War, is said to have created more millionaires in the United States than there had ever been before and the cost, over fifty thousand American service personnel and estimates of two and a half million Vietnamese lives loss and countless more lives on both sides tragically affected both by the wounded and families fractured by their loved ones being killed or maimed.

Rich people don’t fight in wars and consider those who do “suckers.” Our current Con-Man-In-Chief has said so publicly. Oh, not lately to be sure as he having conned a large swatch of the voting population with promises to not get our country involved with another senseless war in the Middle East barely a year into his second term in office has done so. And why? Because there are profits to be made. He who sits on a gold toilet is all about the gold. His sons will not fight in this senseless war, but will be along with their dad far richer for it.

The song, Where Have All The Flowers Gone, says it far better than I or even the two war wise men in today’s picture quote. I quote another song lyric quite popular during my war. The words go, “War, Good God, y’all, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Say it again.” With the possible exception of making rich old white guys even richer. Having millions is not enough for these old bastards (no offense to children born outside marriage) these sad excuse for human beings must have larger piles of money in the billions to feel secure.

When will we ever learn who to trust?
