One More Day
A phrase that I repeat aloud to myself in my daily mantra goes, “This is the day that the Lord and I have made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.” And, yes, I know that is a Psalm with just two words added and one made plural. I believe the Holy Trinity of He/She/We is the answer to the question, “Who is the Lord of Glory?”
During World War Two, College Professor C.S. Lewis gave a series of lectures defending the Christian faith encouraging the besieged isle of Great Britain and her people to hope for a better day, one more day. One of those talks that he later published in book form was entitled, “The Weight of Glory” from a verse from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians:

For a fellow who has not professed to be a Christian for many years now, I still quote the Bible a lot. That is because the poetry of the Bible was my primer. It used to be said that it was impossible to be a truly educated person without knowing the Bible. There are I believe great nuggets of gold to be mined there, but there are traps as well. Jesus once said of the Scribes of his day, “You search the scriptures for in them you think to find eternal life.”
As today’s song says what most of us would not give for “One More Day.” This is that day, the day that We have made to rejoice and be glad in. To paraphrase an Old Testament wise guy’s conclusion to his book Ecclesiastes: That alone (rejoicing and being glad and grateful) is the whole duty of mankind. We have only to do our duty.
