Lighthouse
Funny man Jim Carrey has a more serious side as today’s quote shows. I agree with Jim that we are all lighthouses and that our number one job is to shine as brightly as we can and to dispel as much darkness as we can.
I have known and sung many songs about lighthouses and today’s, made popular by country-western legend Garth Brooks, is one of my favorite karaoke songs to sing.
None of us has to search our memory banks very far to recall someone who was for us a lighthouse and who saved us from shipwreck on the rocks some dark and stormy night.
As children many of us learned the song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…” Some, sadly, have chosen to hide their light, therefore the rest of us need to shine a little brighter. A hundred years from today it will not matter how much money or power we accumulated in this life only how brightly we shined.
Shine on, Pilgrims, lighting the way to safe harbor, not just for ourselves, but for all who see and are encouraged by our light and turned on by it to shine themselves. “If everyone lit just one little candle what a bright world this would be.” – Amen.
