A Few Words About Love And Loss
I am always looking for something to write about in these daily blog, something that will be worth your while and my own. There is so much to see, think, do, and share at this time and in this place.
I am recalling a couple of lines I read as a boy that impressed me then and still do: “‘Tis is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” I think the poet was right, even a brief love and all the pain of loss to follow is better than a lifetime without it.
We cannot force anyone to love us nor to stay with us, much as we might wish we could. We can only risk it all and hope. True lovers discover that loving is its own reward.
I could wish you health, wealth, and happiness and I do. But more than this, I wish you a perfect if not enduring kiss, I wish you love.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
