“Either say, Amen or I Am The Man”

When my son Jonathan was a little guy and caught red-handed for some infraction he would attempt to reflect the blame by saying, “It wasn’t me, it was that other Jonathan.” Like children we may not wish to accept responsibility for our behavior and for our own life, but it is all us, the bigger, better, higher us perhaps, but all us nonetheless. The sooner we fess-up the sooner we can start to show and to grow a little self-respect.

One of the phrases I like to say aloud every day is:

“This is the day that the Lord and I have made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

One of the Psalms, I believe, also asks the question: “Who is the Lord of glory?” That answer, plain and simple is: “I am, you are, everyone of us is – self-invented and deserving of self-respect.” We are at the very least co-creators of all we survey.

The blame game is one that no one every wins, but when we take credit or blame for the situation we find ourselves in we start to understand the plan. We did, our higher self at least, have a plan for this adventure in space and time. I like to believe, as I have said tongue-in-cheek and straight out on more than a few occasions, that we are each of us God on vacation experience everything, all there is.

My advice, don’t “be care full”, don’t “be safe”, just “have fun.” See you on the flip side, Music fans.
