What It Means To Be Prolific

My ever handy I-Phone dictionary app defines prolific as the following:

I direct your attention to the second meaning given: “Producing in large quantities with great frequency; highly productive: a prolific writer.” With today’s Encouraging Word at Number 2375, and that in just a little over seven years, I say I may qualify as a prolific writer.

I have discovered as anyone with any proficiency in any field of endeavor soon does that being a good writer is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent practice or sweat. Oh, a nice turn of phrase may come from time to time out of the blue, but it more usually comes with the umpteenth re-write, trying to get it right.

Do remember that for every misspelled word you might find, or grammatical, or punctuation error in any piece that I found a lot more and corrected them before I pushed the publish button. Hey, and often I find a few more afterwards and correct them when I do. Do I consider myself a great writer, well perhaps not great yet, but prolific and one of my favorite adages is that if you want to be great at anything do it ten thousand times.

They say somethings come naturally, but even those few can be improved upon with practice.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
