Give A Damn

In nineteen thirty-nine, eleven years before my time, I hear that audiences were shocked that the censors allowed one line from the best selling novel Gone With The Wind to stay in the movie. That line was when the long suffering Rhett Butler finally gave up trying to woo the heart of Scarlett away from her foolish Ashley and said he was leaving her to which she exclaimed, “But what shall I do and where shall I go” to this he spoke the classic line, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” But, no matter his harsh sounding words, she knew he did give a damn and always would and said that though she could not think about it then that tomorrow was another day and that tomorrow she would think up a plan to win him back. Anyone who doubts she did win him back, just does not know the power of a strong willed woman to rule over all the men in her life. Women are from birth stronger and their love more powerful than that of men and that is the reason weak men try so hard to keep them from exercising that power.

Macho guys think me a traitor to my sex when I say things like that but, wait for it, I must say and write the truth, for frankly I don’t give a damn what weak minded men think. And another thing, the real awfulness of Margret Mitchell’s book that the censors should have never allowed, like the lies Facebook even yet allows, are the terrible myths about white male supremacy, and how it is the responsibility of the moneyed few to rule over the rest of us. That is the civilization that should indeed be gone with the wind, but it is not yet. The plantation owners have just bought all the banks, businesses, and factories and turned us all into “wage slaves” keeping their vast wealth secure and continually growing it with their oversized profits from our sweat, toll, and tears, holding back our rightful wages and feeding us on the false promise of some trickle down economy. All that trickles down from the mighty bull economy is bull piss and bull shit.

Is he going to go for the king mother of curse words today? He has already used “damn” four times, and “piss” and “shit” once. And, yes, I am counting, because words count. But, no, I will reserve my most favorite word for last, or a least a synonym of it used in it’s highest best sense.

To me there are no dirty words only dirty minds. Sex acts are not dirty, hating and thinking that we are better than anyone else these are despicable detestable acts and any words defending those acts are the true dirty words.

The Bible that many think is so holy has been used to justify the enslavement of countless people mostly darker skinned folk and to start countless wars to enrich the few while further impoverishing the many. To quote a phrase from its own New Testament. “Beloved, these things ought not to be.”

I leave you with the most encouraging word of all, the God of all Words for God is Love and indeed Love is God. When we love, we prove to all the world and ourselves just Who and Whose we truly are.

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in my sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. For heaven’s sake, give a damn and speak your truth. Say all your “I love you(s) loud and clear, not just during the holiday season, but all throughout the year.
