The Motive Behind All Our Actions

Some years ago I read a wise quote from someone who, I think, really knew themselves and people in general and identified our prime directive, our prime motivation. The quote read:

“Every action is either an act of love or cry for love.”

When we come to understand that about ourselves and others, we can begin to see through all the B.S. (That is Bull Shit for all you sensitive souls so easily offended by words you think profane, but never seeming to realize that the greatest profanity of all is to fail to love ourselves and all others by our words and our actions.

The line often teased at, but finally delivered completely in today’s cover song expresses the deepest desire of all of our hearts: “Love me, that’s all I ask of you.” That kind of nails it.
