The Greatest Challenge

Suppose for just a moment that you decided a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, or just down the block, that you would submit to amnesia, so that you could experience the sublime joy of discovering over and over again just Who and Whose you truly are and that the “enemies” and “challenges” that you face in this life are really angels and kind reminders not to get to caught up in this dream of your own design.

Sadly, we think this world or that other people define who we are when only we ourselves have that power and ability. It is our true super power. When the cocky frat boy says arrogantly to the young pretty he is trying to seduce or to the cop who has pulled him over for drunk driving, “Do you know who I am?” he has not even a clue how much he underestimates not only himself, but the other divine cast members in this little off-Broadway production he is currently starring in. His vision of grandeur opinion of himself is actual not overblown but an underestimation of his place, all our places in the true order of things.

We may all think we are three degrees of separation from celebrity, but in reality there are only two degrees, “There is God, and there is me.” Only one degree really – He, She, We are One. But then fun as it is to live realizing that we are at the same time, Dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man, and the lion, all the players in the lands of Oz, and in Kansas, everywhere “good” and “bad” it is also true that we are the little man behind the curtain pulling the levers and broadcasting his booming voice as Oz the Magnificent. Buenos Dias. Como estas? Magnifico!

For some years now, when ask the question, “How are you?” I quickly answer with a smile, “Fine and dandy.” That is to remind myself not to get too caught up in the trauma and drama of this time space jungle, but to be mindful of who I really am, the executive producer of the movie and as such I have always had a hand in it all, from inception to the final shot of the final scene.

This world, this script, this part is not our first nor likely our last. If a particular scene or character seems at times all too familiar perhaps they seem so because they are, having rehearsed with us countless times before and having played many similar scenes and characters with us in previous incarnations.

All very fanciful, Dave, you say but it this seems so real, so gritty. Well, I have got to give credit where credit is due, you are, we all are quite imaginative artists, at spinning tales, casting, set design, and camera angles. Real as it may seem, it is only a vehicle designed for self-discovery, the greatest discovery of all, one so great that once is just never enough. Quiet on the set. Lights, camera, action.

Have fun all you time and space adventurers.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
