Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

Even people who claim to hate surprises are still pleasantly surprised when a long awaited dream comes true. “I finally found what I have been looking for all my life,” they tell their closest friends, “I had almost given up hope.”

It is a sweet scenario that plays out over and over again throughout these adventures in space and time. First there is a longing, a dream, then there is a delay, a disappointment, a death of that dream, and then out of the blue, there it is all we every wanted or could ask for, come true for us at last.

The only thing more joyous that finding what we always wanted and treasured is the realization that we are that for someone else as well.

That is the true love story that we all want to be a part of, the One Upon A Time fairy tale come true.

I looked long and high and low

Till I despaired of ever finding

Then in a moment of discovery

Two found a love ever binding.

You saw yourself true in my eyes

And I saw myself adored in yours

Whatever want or disappointment

Such a sweet join discovery cures.

“Surprise, surprise, surprise!” funny man Gomer Pyle used to say. It does not have to be your birthday though some discoveries are so important that we celebrate the anniversary of those special times as if they were our birthdays. “My life truly began when I found you” we say, “truly you are the dream I always hoped would come true, and it has and does everyday I get to spend with you.”
