Danny, the Duck with no Quack
Like Danny the Duck, sometimes we have trouble finding our voice and expressing ourselves, but it is written that we have an advocate, someone to speak for us when for whatever reason we are unable to speak for ourselves. Good to know.
Once I thought that I had a particular calling to be a spokesman and I took great comfort in the promise, “Take no thought as to what you shall say for in that hour the words will be given you.” Words are not so much a problem as is staying tuned to the correct frequency. Jesus told two of his disciplines, nicknamed the sons of thunder, once when they were trying to call down fire on those who opposed them, “You know not what spirit you are of” the point being that they were listening to the wrong voice and not the true voice of love, peace, and understanding. The very idea that we might want to burn our enemies means we are not properly tuned in else we would discern that we have no real enemies, only brothers whose motives we have misread or mistaken.
The expression I believe is, “ If it quacks like a duck then it’s a duck.” But we are not ducks nor they but children and children are a reflection of their parents, mimicking their words and behaviors. We can only speak what we have heard. Be sure to listen right and listen tight, Pilgrims.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
