Pop Goes the Weasel, London Bridge is Falling Down

Today is Twofer Friday with two very well-known and often repeated children’s songs. As the saying goes if I only had a nickel for every time, I would be a rich man indeed and I actually consider myself one. Someone has defined being rich as having enough. I suppose that is why even some billionaires do not consider themselves rich because even billions of dollars is not enough for them. But for quite sometime I have being telling myself and anyone willing to listen:

“I am so glad and grateful that everything that I could ever want or need is already mine and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.”

I grew up as I have shared more than once in a very narrow fundamentalist cult where the teachings were intense and focused. Though stunting my life in more than a few ways there were some good things that I did not put out with the trash when I finally broke out of that prison. Leaving aside all the blood, guilt, and gore many a song lyric contained nuggets of gold and the better more uplifting Bible verses. One I recall and share often is: “God’s way is best if human wisdom a fairer way seem to show, ‘tis only that our earth dimmed vision the truth can never clearly know.”

We can indeed know somethings, amass the biggest pile on the block, and have a head full of facts or at least the know how to find them on a screen but the true riches is knowing Who and Whose we are and acting out of that knowledge. No matter if weasels are popping or London Bridge is falling down it is all according to plan and that plan always has our highest good in mind.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
