Nighty Night, Little Green Monster
Kermit the Fog, well-known Sesame Street Muppet, sings that it is not easy being green. But then it is not always easy being any one color of the wide rainbow, though the grass does often seem greener, better, in someone else’s yard. I assure you that is only a trick of the light. Science tells us that all color is just reflected light and that rainbows like the colors of sunlight through a prism are just light split apart into all its wonderful hues.
My last name is White and the color picked for or assigned to me this go round is white as my gender this time is male. Before you accuse me of white male bias or privilege, let me just say that I have never been a member of the rich white boys club and that I in no way defend their long practice of depriving poor people especially people of color and women of a fair share of the pie that all deserve.
I think it is a big mistake thinking too much about what we do not want when thoughts are what draws all things to us. The true purpose of prayer or intention, I think, is to give the Universe prompts to respond to, requests to fulfill. I believe in a loving and infinite source always at the ready to provide for his/her children.
Desiderata, a poem that has been around a while sums it up quite well, I think, Child of the Universe:

(Desiderata may have been copyrighted in 1952, but I believe it was first written in 1927.)
I conclude today with the words a a hit song from 1989, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
