Wishful Thinking
With over seventeen hundred blogs posted to date, it is no surprise that I return again and again to familiar themes. One of my favorites, if you follow me, is that we do indeed get what we wish for, hence the tongue in cheek warning, “Be careful what you wish for.”
I have tried several times to write about where our desires come from and who is more willing to grant them than we are to admit and to commit to them. “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you desires of your heart.” Who is the Lord of glory? Who is the author, the benefactor, of our story? He, She is known by many and varied names but the truest ringing one is – You.
Whence come all our dreams and desires but from our own heart of hearts, our own one true mind. There in the very center of us is the life spring, the source. Fitting here that I repeat a mantra that came to me not out of the blue but from that special place within some years ago now:
“I am glad and grateful that everything I could ever want or need is already mine and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.”
You might say, “That is just wishful thinking, Crazy Dave.” To which my smiling reply is, “Amen.”
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
