Sometimes A Picture Says It All

Then why are you still writing, talking, and singing, Crazy Dave? Perhaps like the Ancient Mariner in the Coolridge story I am compelled to tell my story, give my take on this wild and wonderful world. I like many of you have gotten excited enough to wet my pants or plants from time to time but far more often and less embarrassing touched enough to wet my eyes.

I was just sharing with the barber who cut my hair a couple of days ago regarding several movies we both love that touched our hearts and made us cry. Of course she mentioned The Notebook and I agreed with her and added also any movie inspired by a book that Nicolas Sparks wrote. Yes, even the one with Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear. Then there was Jennifer Lopez’s Enough and Julia Roberts’ Sleeping With The Enemy. So many touching, tear invoking books and movies. A yet there are books yet to write, movies yet to make, stories yet to be told, and songs yet to be sung. Just because it has been done and well does not mean it cannot be redone and perhaps in a way that might touch someone more than the first, second, or thirteenth attempt did.

Case in point, the movie A Star Is Born, I have seen the most recent three movie incarnations and I think, for me at least, the third time was the charm. Lady Ga Ga and Bradley Cooper really nailed that one, not that the others, Judy Garland and James Mason, and in the seventies Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson were not wonderful in those roles.

There are literally millions of bloggers out there practicing their craft, hoping to be read and followed. Why should I expect to be someday more than they but I do. Someday I fully expect to make a nice living sharing my stories to an audience who wants to read them enough to pay for the privilege. We shall see. I believe that believing is seeing and not the other way around as we have been taught. Do keep reading, following Ole Crazy Dave, and I will keep on writing, speaking, and singing.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
