The Wind Beneath My Wings

We have all at one time our another and more likely many times when we needed it most felt the buoyancy of the warm winds of love lifting us aloft. There has never been a moment in our lives when we have not been loved and sheltered beneath the ever lasting wings of love, though we may have felt like it, all alone and on our own trying our wings. The Psalmist wrote even if I go to the underworld You are there. I love the image of Divinity as “the hound of heaven” always on our trail, but even more I think the phrase “the wind beneath my winds.”

The Wind Beneath My Winds

Undoubtedly Bette Midler, Miss Divine, does a far better job of this song than I, but my Mockingbird Version is meant as a tribute only. In the movie “Beaches” Bette plays basically herself and the song is meant in a way of tribute to her lifelong girl friend who lifted her up and was always there for her. There are indeed Angels like that among us but the only One who can truly fill that bill is our Higher Self, you for you, and me for me. This is if there is indeed any “one size fits all religion” for no one fits you better than you or me better than me.

And the love beneath our wings that holds and keeps us up is Self Love in its highest most perfect expression as Miss Divine sings so well and I just copy – “Did I ever tell you, you’re my hero, everything I wish I could be.” You and I already are and have always been that Hero.” As the Eighth of The Ten Intentions For A Better World states:

“I am a magnificent being awakening to my highest potential. I express myself with joy, smiling easily and laughing often. I shine my light.”

Another song that I intend to make one of my Mockingbird Songs one day is “Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong.” Love is the wind beneath our wings and as the wind is invisible so is love but powerful and strong so we can soar to heights unimaginable except in the Divine Mind – Hers, His, Ours.

Your friend, fellow traveler,

And Eagle,

David White
