Getting Up One More Time Than You Fall
I love the great quote picture for today and success truly is getting up just one more time than you fall down. Nothing can defeat you or keep you down if you just keep getting up no matter what. The Universe is bound to crown you victor if you keep showing up and getting up.
And I know that to many of you that might sound like Pollyanna or wishful thinking but I believe the way that we are most responsible for our own success and the making of our own dreams come true is not hard work and sacrifice but just showing up and getting up when we are knocked or fall down. Quitters never win and there are a million ways to quit and only one way to win – keep dreaming, keep getting up and keep showing up.
I recently got a copy of The Greatest Showman on Blue Ray and also the soundtrack and am working on learning the songs as I did last year the soundtrack of the then new Disney version of Beauty And The Beast to share on my Daily Mockingbird email to a few friends and fans. It is not that I think my voice at all comparable to the original artists. That is not how mockingbirds think nor do I – we just hear a lovely song and want to repeat it to those around us. Some of the people I email my daily songs to might not ever knowingly pick some of the tunes that I send out, but through this small effort they might discover new music genres to investigate. I do practice and try to perform in a way that does, I hope, pay tribute to the writers and the recording artists of the songs I pick. I owe it to the memory of music greats like Frank Sinatra not to lose them fans but to hopefully gain them a few.
The second song on The Greatest Showman CD is A Million Dreams. It begins:
“I close my eyes and I can see
A world that’s waiting up for me
That I call my own.
Through the dark, through the door
Through where no one’s been before
But it feels like home.
They can say, they can say that it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say that I’ve lost my mind
I don’t care, I don’t care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design.”
And I think, I believe, that is exactly what we do indeed do, that there is really no one else to blame or to praise for the world that we find ourselves in. It Indeed took a million dreams to get us here and will take at least a million more to create that higher, better world we hope to come. So instead of getting cracking let’s get to dreaming better, bigger dreams – dreams in which love and kindness reign supreme and no child ever goes hungry or has to fear for their safety or future, the heaven that religions and fairy tales promise but that we know will only come true as we take it from hidden deep in our hearts and put it out there for all the world to see.
So quit sounding like the older lady in the TV commercial, “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” and instead more like the seventies Disco song, “Get on up on the floor ‘cause we’re gonna boogie oogie oogie till we just can’t boogie no more.”
Your friend and fellow traveler,
The Boogieman (Not the scary one, the disco one)
